The French macaron - not to be confused with the coconut macaroon - is a confectionery whose name is derived from an Italian word “maccarone,” meaning paste. It is meringue-based, simply made with egg whites, almond flour, and powdered sugar.
So this morning, I was moping and lazing about, whining of having nothing to do and nowhere to go and no car to take me in any case. After watching some episodes of “Boys Over Flowers” and eating my 1/4 watermelon, I made a list of things to bake/make by the end of the summer.
- Macarons (not macarOOn! raspberry, coffee, strawberry + vanilla buttercream?)
- Cream puffs (strawberry whip, coffee whip, or chocolate mousse)
- Mini chocolate chip cookies (once I get my cookie scoop!)
- Ice cream cone cupcakes + ice cream (Devil’s food or Funfetti?)
- Cookie/blond brownies
- Frozen chocolate cookie cake (giant ice cream sandwich)
- Fudge crinkle ice cream sandwiches
- Truffles
This week, I am baking for…
- the birthday of my superhero (Frere! :])
- the meeting of a few friends to eat food, take pictures, discuss business and the future (really).
- the BBQ shindig at the park with friends.
- the last time I’m going to see my group/kids/friends before my 3 week journey in Vietnam.
Now, which to make for whom.
